Had a lot of things to do so I did my workout at home yesterday.  Did a quick warm up of some shadowboxing, then did a lot of push ups, squats and core work.  I’m headed up north for the weekend so I won’t get back to the gym until Sunday night.  I’m going to Muay Thai on Monday too and I can’t wait :D

Got out to the gym tonight and did a weight training workout.  It’s been a while so I started off a bit slow.   Did 10 minutes of HIIT as a warmup on the eliptical and then did a full body circuit on the machines with 1 warmup set and 1 work set at each station.

I’ll be back on Thursday and I’ll be doing 1 warm up set and 2 work sets, then on Sunday night getting up to 3 work sets.  I’m sure I’m gonna feel sore tomorrow, but it’s worth it!

November 18th, 2008 Workout – Cardio

Today’s workout was mostly on the heavy bag.  I did a couple hundred jumping jacks and stride jumps as a warmup, then some stretching to loosen up.  On the bag I did ten two minute rounds with a minute of rest in between.  I started with just single jabs and worked my way up to full combos.  I switched stances every round as well.  After that I did a lot of core work – gotta get ready to board!

By the end of it all I was totally exhausted.  Have I ever missed that feeling.

Back on track and writing again

It’s been a while since I’ve been writing and a few of ya have asked me about it now.  The last two months have been intensely busy for me – more so than at any other point in my life.  I had a major project at work due and all the long hours associated with that.  On top of that I had a couple of part-time jobs for fun working at haunted houses and also managed to pick up three new freelance clients as well.  October is pretty much my favourite month too, so I was out a lot for the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, the Zombie Walk and all kinds of random Halloween goodness.  I even got a part as a zombie in a George Romero movie – which was like a dream come true for me. :)

It’s been a really fun time:  I got together with a great girl and in general had a blast with a load of new friends and experiences.  In other ways it wasn’t so great:  I slept VERY poorly, ate a lot of convenience food and didn’t get enough exercise.  In the past this is where I would have gone back to my old habits for a long time, but I am not going to let that happen again.  I am going to get my schedule sorted out and my good patterns back in place.  For me that means 3 weeks straight of being really strict to relock those patterns in place.

Over the weekend I redid my nutrition and exercise plans.  I am going to get right back into my regular routine and I am going to reach my goals.  I am going to get back to writing regularly as well and I really miss doing that.  I recently got a message from a good friend that really helped push me back on track and prompted me to go back and re-read my old posts again.  It’s times like this that make me glad I decided to share this with my friends and family in the first place and I’ll always be thankful for their support.

I’ve still been working out, but not as frequently and I haven’t been logging my time.  For today’s workout, I did a combination of jumping jacks, push ups, pull ups, chin ups, squats and ab work.  I was looking at the hundredpushups.com site and I am going to apply the same concept to my pull up, push up and chin up work to progressively move them forward.  Snowboarding season is starting soon too, so I’m going to do a lot of balance and core work as well.

I’m excited – it feels great to write again and I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks.  It looks like the boarding season is going to start this Saturday at Horseshoe and I plan on making it up for the first run of the year – can’t wait!
