May 25th, 2009 Workout – Running

Tonight I took the dog out for a quick run.  It’s ben a while since I’ve been out for a run and it didn’t go too well.  I did a 5 minute warmup and then started running – within about 10 minutes I started to feel pains in my knees.  The feeling was similar to what I’ve encountered in the past and didn’t go away until I got down to about 225.  So for now I’m going to keep the running to a minimum and stick to biking and lomg walks.

It’s a bit of a weird feeling – I’ve gone off course and lost some of my progress, but I’m not terribly upset by it.  I feel like I wasted some time working towards my goals but in the long run I know that these last few months have just been a small moment.  I know exactly what I have to do because I’ve already done it.  I’ve made the decision to work towards my goals again and it’s just a matter of time before I reach them.

Roadblocks and moving forward

I started writing almost two years ago. One of the first entries I wrote was about how I would inevitably hit a roadblock and fail. That moment has come for me. Except I don’t feel like I failed. That is far too much of a harsh and absolute idea for me because failure would mean that I’ve given up – which is nowhere close to reality.

As for what knocked me into this funk – it was pretty much a cluster@#%! at work for a month followed by a month of blowing off steam as a result of that.

But it’s all good and it’s time to go forward! I’m back to doing my planning and back to reviewing my goals. It feels good to be back into things and back into writing. I start back at Muay Thai at the beginning of June and I’m really looking forward to it. Anyway – enough for now – I’ve got a ton of work to do and not enough time to do it in!
