Day 25/63 – May 18th, 2008 Workout – Gym / Biking
Yesterday I got back early from the cottage as I had a lot of work to do back around here. When I got home I got changed and headed over to the gym for a back workout. I’m pretty happy with how my strength and conditioning has improved with the rest of my body through Muay Thai class. However, my back remains pretty weak by comparison so I’ve been doing extra to get it caught up.
After my warmup, I noticed that the assisted pull up machine was actually free for once, so I started off with 4 sets of 5 on that with 40 pounds of assistance. I then did some rows, both on a machine and one-arm rows with dumbbells. I finished off with a heavy set of bicep curls. All exercises were done with heavy weights and 5 reps with lots of rest in between. I’ve been pushing myself with each trip to the gym and my strength has been going up as a result.
Later on I took the dog for a bike ride to tire him out and he loved it like he usually does. As for the rest of the day… I gave into long weekend indulgences – had a piece of brownie cheesecake that I made for my friends and had way too many beers. Which resulted in me being exhausted / hungover this morning… to the point where I couldn’t drag myself out of bed to go to Muay Thai at 11:30. :( Since last June when I started I can count the number of times I drank a lot on a single hand – I really cut back a lot compared to how much I used to drink. I need to remember that my tolerance has dropped down a lot and on top of that I’m about 25% smaller too.
I was really looking forward to class today too… :( I’m going to have to settle for going for a bike ride and then hitting the heavy bag in my room later today.
