Went to the gym today – I wanted to go to the new Friday Muay Thai class at Kombat Arts, but they’re running a testing tonight.  I’ve really missed doing pull ups – since the top of my door frame chipped, I haven’t used the door mounted one I have and have only been doing them either at Kombat Arts or at the gym.

It’s funny to think that I could miss an exercise, but I felt like I made really good progress when I was doing them daily.  I ordered the perfect pullup bar so I can get back to doing them more frequently – kind of gimmicky with the rotating handles bit, but I’ll try it out.  I can always use the bar itself to do normal pull ups and chin ups.

I did a bunch of pull ups at the gym, then some shoulder, bicep and tricep exercises.  I’m not feeling too focused when I go to the gym and I am going to revamp my workout plans this weekend.

Anyway… I’ve got to wake up early tomorrow.  Going for a run in the morning and then helping some friends move.  Won’t be able to make it into Muay Thai class, but I’ll get some activity in at least.

Day 9/63 – July 16th, 2008 Workout – HIIT / Weights

My tattoo is almost done healing and I finally got back into the gym today for a workout. It’s been almost 10 days since my last real workout and it’s really been bugging me. I know I’m not going to instantly plump up or turn to jelly in 10 days time, but I definitely felt like it in my head. I’m dying to get back to Muay Thai class too – counting down the days until Monday when I get back for the first time in 2 weeks!

I was actually smiling as I drove to the gym because I was so excited to finally get back into it. I put on my favourite workout playlist and did a quick 10 minutes of HIIT on the elliptical machine to get my heart going and to warm up. I then did a full lower body weight workout oriented towards strength – lots of weight, low reps and lots of rest between sets.

Now I’m home and I’m tired, sore and exhausted. But man does it ever feel great. I feel back to normal. I feel like myself again.

Day 52/63 – June 13th, 2008 Workout – Weights

The last couple of days have been crazy for me with work. Big project that was due to be finished and on top of that, had an emergency last night and the night before… so over the last 48 hours I’ve gotten 6 hours of sleep and haven’t worked out. I managed to avoid crap food, but ended up not eating enough.

Today I came home from work ready to pass out but I really wanted to get my workout in, so I took a 30 minute nap and then hit the gym. Despite being exhausted I had a good workout and I actually feel a lot better now.

The rest of the weekend is pretty busy for me, so I’m taking tonight as a relaxation night – gonna do some reading, paint a bit and then get some much-needed sleep.
